Announcing Nava Certus 1.6 for migrations to Sharepoint and OneDrive

Nava Certus 1.6 is now available as a fully supported download. We now add support for SharePoint and OneDrive as migration targets. Also learn what Google has to say about Nava Certus in its blog post on Drive migrations.

The major focus for us in 1.6 has been to work towards completing the Sharepoint and OneDrive story. In our commitment to produce a universal cloud data migration solution, we’re happy to announce that version 1.6 of Nava Certus supports migration to Sharepoint and OneDrive.*

Nava Certus 1.6 is now officially supported and available for your download. As always, you get to migrate your first 1GB free of charge as part of a 5-day evaluation.

Check out the release notes for more details on changes in NC 1.6.

Sharepoint and OneDrive migration
With Nava Certus now supporting migration to Sharepoint, customers now have a robust solution that they can utilize for many Sharepoint-related tasks, including:

Migration to Sharepoint from a local file-server. Move all your data to Sharepoint (on-premise) or Sharepoint Online. Save both time and money by eliminating the need for a file server.
Migration between two Sharepoint instances. If you have a new Sharepoint deployment and would like an easy way to migrate your data, then give Nava Certus a try.
Office 365 migrations made easier. If your customer wishes to adopt Office 365, Nava Certus can help by migrating content to Microsoft OneDrive (formerly SkyDrive).
Improve migration performance. Nava Certus’ multi-threaded and job-oriented design allows you to conduct multiple independent parallel migrations.
Manage migration projects. Nava Certus’ reporting allows you to easily produce reports (final and progress reports) on […]

Nava Certus now supports migration to AODocs (beta)

With Nava Certus, cloud storage migration has never been easier. Today, we’re expanding our features to include another migration target, AODocs a document management solution for Google Apps.

While the functionality is still in Beta and we’re actively testing and getting this version ready for shipment, you are welcome to contact us and we’ll be happy to give you an advance version to test.

Here is a more complete list of changes in Nava Certus 1.5:

Migration to AODocs
File size filter
Job conversion and upgrade support

With version 1.5, we will be supporting nearly 35 unique migrations.

X = regular migration, P = migration with permission support, D = distributed migration, C = conversion
How does the migration to AODocs work?
We’ve put a lot of time and thought into supporting the AODocs functionality. To begin with, all of the sources currently available in the product are also supported for migration to AODocs. For instance, if you are a Google Apps reseller, you can now win more Microsoft customers by offering to migrate the customer’s data from Sharepoint to AODocs or from SkyDrive/OneDrive to AODocs.

Not only will you be able to migrate to AODocs, but in some cases, you may be interested in sending very large files somewhere else. For the AODocs destination, we now support a secondary Google Cloud Storage location. Files smaller or equal to a certain size will go to AODocs (which is actually built on top of Google Drive).  Files greater than the configured size filter will be sent to Google Cloud Storage.

There are now 10,000+ Google Apps resellers!

The Google Apps partner ecosystem is growing. If your company is in the Google Apps business, is enough being done to differentiate from other competitors? Continue reading to learn some ways that your firm can stand out by partnering with Nava Solutions.

Google Apps now has more than 10000 resellers! This was one of the major announcements stemming from the Google Enterprise Partner Summit,  which took place in San Francisco last week. In addition to the sheer multitude of companies signing up as partners, more established technology vendors such as CDW have also joined in.

This is a terrific metric, representing more than 65% growth over a two year period. (In July, 2012 this number was 6000.)

We’d like to welcome all new partners that are incorporating Google Apps in their business strategy as it further solidifies Google Apps as a proven technology with the ability to power modern businesses. And while we couldn’t be happier for this news, the fact is that resellers now have more competitors and a differentiation strategy today is more important than ever.

Google’s channel partners may need to reinvent themselves and figure out how to provide additional value and a more robust set of services and products to their customers. As David Politis from Bettercloud mentions:
In the long term, as companies come to rely more on Google Apps, they’ll look to their resellers to provide a well-rounded all-cloud IT environment. As a reseller – really your customers’ “cloud advisor” – it’s your responsibility to shepherd them into this new IT landscape.

Many customers will have special requirements that surpass the […]

Nava Certus 1.3: Migration deltas, Synchronization

Customers using Nava Certus, may have noticed a few logistical complications with extremely large migrations. If a migration was large and the source files were still in used by users, then by the time you migrate the data there will be new versions of some files at the source.
In the past, we recommended to split up migrations into manageable chunks and to enforce a ‘freeze’ on the source during the migration.
Today we have a more ideal solution. We’re happy to release Nava Certus 1.3 featuring a new “Continuous Mode” option that enables two use cases: Delta migrations & One-way Synchronization.

Delta Migration
One the main stage of the migration has finished, a delta migration allows for the migration of only the changed files. With this functionality, each migration can now have a last “delta migration” phase shortly before the go-live.
One-Way Synchronization
With the one-way synchronization use case, the customer would like to continuously update the destination as files at the source are updated. When the destination is set to Google Drive,
More Details
As you can see on the left, there are three configuration options we’ve added:

Enable Continuous Mode: With this option enabled, after migrating the initial set of data, NC will go into “Watching” state and monitor the source for changed files and periodically begin to migrate the changed data. For the Google Drive destination, modified files are appended as new “Revisions” to the existing file in Google Drive, preserving the previous version of the file.

Detection Method: We support 2 modes of detecting changes: Datetime and Checksum. With Datetime, […]

Nava Certus pricing change

Prior to releasing Nava Certus in June/July this year, we conducted a study of the cloud storage and data migration market  in an effort to determine our pricing strategy. This was not an easy task since there weren’t (and still aren’t) that many commercially available tools for migrating data to cloud storage and specifically to Google Drive.

Still, we were able to get an understanding of the market and as a result set the introductory price to $4.99 per GB. At the time the software was released, we only supported migration from file server to Google Drive. Many of our valued customers took advantage of the introductory and we thank them for their trust and vote of confidence.

Since those first days, we’ve been hard at work developing new features. A brief summary of the new features we’ve introduced since then includes:

In order to continue developing great new features and help support our expansion and marketing efforts, we are ending the introductory pricing period. Effective Nov 15, 2013 the new and more permanent price for Nava Certus migrations is $7.99/GB. This is still significantly lower than other competing products and we do not have plans to change the pricing any further.

If you are migrating more than 500GB then you may qualify for a volume discount. Call us for more info.

If you have received a quote from us during the introductory period, we will honor all such quotes until Dec. 1 2013.
We have also modified our reseller pricing. Resellers, please contact us for details.

Dropbox migration; Cloud migration to premise

Nava Certus 1.2
Today, we’re announcing the latest version of Nava Certus. With this release, we bring support for migration to and from Dropbox as well as migration from cloud storage to local premise servers.

We’ve been hard at work trying to realize our goal of making Nava Certus synonymous with cloud storage migration. If you have a request for a particular source or destination, please don’t hesitate to respond in the comments.

Full release notes available here.
Dropbox Migration
Dropbox is now available both as a migration source and destination. Some of the use cases for this are:

Do you have a different Dropbox migration use case? Let us know in the comments.
Cloud migration to premise
We realize that organizational cloud computing strategies can change over time. What made sense a few years ago may not anymore.  For this reason, we’d like to ensure that you’re not locked in and married to your cloud provider. Combined with the document conversion feature introduced in NC 1.1, we can now support a full migration and back-up of Google Apps data in an independent format.

Use cases to consider:

Change in Cloud Strategy

You have a new IT executive and he/she wants nothing to do with the cloud. Or perhaps you’ve merged (or been acquired) by a company that doesn’t subscribe to the cloud mentality. Far too common from our experience. Problem? No problem!

Disaster Recovery

You like your cloud storage, but want to ensure that you still retain your data in a disaster that may affect the cloud provider. Consider the case of Nirvanix, a cloud storage company that […]

Nava Certus 1.1 – Migrate from Google, File Conversion

Over the past month, we’ve been working on a few new features for Nava Certus. After a lengthy period of testing, we’re happy to finally announce Nava Certus 1.1

The main features in this release include:

Google Drive Source

Many new use cases are enabled with the addition of the Google Drive Source feature, such as:

File Conversion

When migrating to Google Drive, some customers would like to have the ability to convert documents, such as MS Word, Excel, and so forth to Google Docs format. We’re enabling this feature in 1.1 and allow you granular file conversion settings.

In addition to the new features, we also fixed a number of bugs. Visit our support forum for a full version of the release notes.

As before, Nava Certus is available for free for evaluation purposes.

Nava Certus Migration to Amazon S3, Permission Analyzer

Hooray! Today we’re releasing the latest version of Nava Certus, our cloud storage migration software. Have you tried it yet? If not, then why not go for the trial and you can migrate up to 1GB for free. Today’s release contains the following new features:

Support for Amazon S3 storage: Due to popular demand, we’re now supporting migration from Windows file system to Amazon S3. Simply configure the migration job for S3 and within minutes you can be uploading your files to Amazon S3. Don’t worry about lost files, with our Migration Integrity report you can provide your boss/customer with a full accounting of what exactly was migrated (and what was not, including the reason). Amazon S3 migration also supports preservation of permissions.
Permission Analyzer Tool: Complicated migrations, where many users are involved, require a little bit of planning. Now, a built-in Permission Analyzer Tool can list all of the users and permissions present at the source. This will aid you greatly in creating the user mapping file and thus speed up the migration preparation time.
